FAQ

Make an Offer allows a merchant to:

1) Add a button to their product page which allows their customers to submit an offer that is below the product list price or

2) Enable an exit intent pop-up “Make an Offer” form for the product page and/or the cart page. We also provide a software platform and automated tools for communicating, negotiating and managing these customer offers.

Once an offer is submitted, the merchant can (through the app settings) manually (or through automation with pre-defined rules) accept/decline/counter the offer.

A custom checkout link is created and emailed to customers for accepted offers, which they can then use to go through the Shopify checkout process with the applied discount.

The user charge is a calculated percentage of any sale that originated from the Make an Offer app and is completed and fully paid for by customers to the merchant. The calculated percentage is dependent on the pricing plan that a merchant has selected for their store. Every offer made and/or accepted is charge free until your customer completes the Shopify checkout process and makes a payment. The different tiers are:

- Starter plan: 2.99%
- Pro: 1.99%
- Power: 0.99%

Please make sure that our button is enabled through the app settings in Setup > Incentive Configuration underneath the heading Step 1 - Product page options.

Although we are compatible with most widely used Shopify themes and Apps, in rare instances there could also be a theme or conflicting app issue that is causing the button to not be visible. Please contact support at: support@makeanoffer.freshdesk.com, we typically respond within less than 24 hours and will aim to find a solution as soon as possible (we have successfully built many integrations).

Incentive Configuration

The Make an Offer button can be enabled by going to the app settings admin section, selecting Setup and then selecting the subtab Incentive Configuration. Here you will be able to toggle the option to enable the Make an Offer button under:

Step 1 - Product page options with the “Button (Mobile and Desktop)” option.

The exit intent pop-up can be enabled for the product page and/or the cart page.

For the product page, this can be done by going to the app settings admin section, selecting Setup and then selecting the sub tab Incentive Configuration. Here you can look under the heading Step 1 - Product page options and choose to have the exit intent pop-up activated for the desktop, and/or the timed pop-up for the mobile version.

If you wish to enable the exit intent pop-up for the cart page, this can be done on the same Incentive Configuration tab by scrolling down to the heading Step 2 - Cart page options. Here you can select to enable the exit intent pop-up for the desktop, and the timed pop-up for the mobile version.

Merchants can disable the Make an offer button by going to Setup > Incentive Configuration and under the heading Step 1 - Product page options, toggle the Button (Mobile and Desktop) option. At the same time, merchants can toggle the Exit Offer (Desktop Only) and the Timed Offer (Mobile Only) to enable only the exit intent and timed offer pop-ups.

Merchants can configure these combinations to what they deem best for their store.

You can chose to have the Make an Offer button visible only for certain products through SKUs, collections, or tags (Also refer to Tutorial Video)

First you would have to identify the SKU, collection, or tag attributed to the product you wish to have the Make an Offer button enabled for.

You would then go to the Make an Offer admin section, into Setup and click on the Incentive Configuration tab.

You will then scroll down to "B. Select the products you would like to enable the above incentives on:" where you will be able to access a drop down menu.

You would then select "Show only on product skus, collections or tags selected below"

Once this option is selected, you would insert the skus, collections, or tags into the correct field that are provided. Please ensure that SKUs, collections, and tags are separated by a comma.

You can then scroll down to the bottom of the page to save the settings and have the Make an Offer button enabled for those specific SKUs

Automated offers can be set up by going to the app settings, Setup > Incentive Configuration and scrolling down to the Step 3 - Auto Respond section

In this section, you will be given the option to specify automation through product SKUs, collections, or tags.

You can then, in the appropriate fields, specify the range of offers you are willing to accept and what price you would automatically counter with if offers are made out of that range.

You are able to set different rules for different products, but one product cannot have multiple rules created for it.

Go to Setup > Incentive Configuration and scroll all the way down to Step 4 - Automatically Decline and here you will be able to toggle the option to enable this function. You will also have a field where you can insert the percentage threshold to automatically decline any offer below your set limit.

Go to Setup > Incentive Configuration and in the section Step 1 - Product page options under the sub heading C. Select expiration of your offers chose from the drop down menu to specify the time limit for expiring offers.

This feature disables the checkout link for accepted offers sent to customers once the set time limit has passed after offers are accepted.

Go to Setup > Incentive Configuration and scroll down to the heading Step 2 - Cart page options where you can enable the exit intent pop-up for the cart page on the desktop, and the timed pop-up on the cart page for mobile users.

This feature is only available for American and Canadian numbers

You can receive SMS notifications for submitted offers and use your mobile device to accept/decline/counter these offers from anywhere you are!

Go to Setup > Incentive Configuration and scroll all the way down to the heading Step 4 - SMS notification where you can add your number to take advantage of this feature

Look & Feel

The Make an Offer button and pop-up can be customized to match your theme by going to Setup > Look & Feel where you can easily customize how the the button and pop-up would look on your store.

You can also scroll down to the bottom of the page and use the Advanced CSS option to make additional modifications.

Email Copies

Emails could be going into your customer’s junk/spam mail. Please ask them to check to make sure emails are not there. If customers are still unable to find the emails, please reach out to support@makeanoffer.freshdesk.com

Unfortunately, service providers use AI to flag emails as spam and we had originally allowed merchants to use their own domains but that increased the likelihood of emails getting flagged as spam.

You can edit the emails that customers receive by going to Setup > Email Copies and here you will be able to edit emails that are sent to customers.

Please note that editing of the macros can cause errors and prevent merchants from sending emails.

You have the option to enable the functionality to receive copies of the emails that are being sent to customers to make sure that emails are being generated. This can be done by going to Setup > Email Copies where you will see buttons that can be toggled to enable this functionality.

In the Email Copies tab, you can enable the option to send emails to customers to inform them that their offer has been received and under review.

In the Email Copies tab, you have the ability to use the Custom CSS option for advanced editing.

$Offers tab

By going to the $Offers tab, you will be able to filter offers by date, customer email/name, and by the status of offers (accepted, countered, declined)

ou can combine multiple offers by a single customer into one cart by going to the $Offers tab, and once you click on “Accept” or “Counter” you will activate a pop-up that will allow you to accept/counter offers in bulk.

Miscellaneous

Unfortunately, archived offers cannot be unarchived and the customer would have to resubmit the offer - we suggest contacting the customer on the email he provided to submit the offer.

Yes. In order to use Google Analytics, you can go to Setup > Look & Feel and under the heading Customize the Popup scroll down to the subheading Google Analytics Events. Here you can toggle the option and a field will appear where you can insert your Google Analytic Code

No, customers are unable to apply any additional discount code to products after an offer has been accepted

An accepted offer does not guarantee a completed sale. The customer still has to go through the check out process to purchase the item(s). The customer can decide to not follow through with the purchase.

Please ensure that the list price of the product in question has not been changed after an offer has been accepted.

If you have a product listed at $100 and accept an offer for $80 ($20 discount), any change in the list price will impact the price the customer can checkout with. Make an Offer calculated the amount of discount accepted and applies that to the backend list price. If that $100 products' list price is changed to $80, that $20 discount will now be applied to the new list price. This will be the case if the list price is also increased above the original list price of $100 to $120 for example.
